Privacy Policy

Free Functional Cognitive Stimuli (“FFCS,” “we,” or “the site”) is a free library of cognitive activities for clinicians. This policy explains what information the site does and does not collect when you use it.
Information we collect
We do not have user accounts, logins, or forms, and we do not ask you for personal information. The site has no server-side database that stores anything about you.
The activities store a small amount of data locally in your own browser (using localStorage and sessionStorage) so that an activity can remember things like which sections you have opened or whether today’s acknowledgment has been shown. This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data.
The one exception is anonymous usage measurement through Google Analytics, which is described in the Analytics section below.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to understand which activities are used and how people move through the library. This is the one place where information about your visit leaves your device.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_…) and records a randomly generated identifier for your browser, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, the site you arrived from, your general device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses themselves.
We never send patient information to Google, because the site never collects any. Analytics data is about page usage, not about the people in your sessions. It is not used to build advertising profiles by us, and we do not sell it.
- You can opt out on any site using Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Browser tracking protection or an ad blocker will also stop it.
- For how Google handles data from sites that use its services, see Google’s partner-sites policy.
Not for patient health information
The activities on this site are educational exercises designed for use in clinical sessions. They are not intended to collect, store, or transmit protected health information (PHI) or any personally identifiable patient data, and you should not enter such information into them.
No patient names, diagnoses, medical record numbers, dates of birth, or any other identifying information should be entered into any activity on this site. The site does not function as a medical record, clinical documentation tool, or patient management system.
Free Functional Cognitive Stimuli is not a HIPAA-covered entity and does not operate as a Business Associate under HIPAA. Clinicians are solely responsible for maintaining HIPAA compliance within their own practice, including how they display and use this site during patient sessions.
Advertising & cookies
Ad serving is not currently active. No advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookies are set by this site today. The site is built to be supported by advertising through Google AdSense, and the terms below will apply once that is switched on. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- For details on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google’s partner-sites policy.
Children
This site is directed to rehabilitation professionals and is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
This site is served exclusively over HTTPS. All connections are encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS.
Because FFCS does not collect personal information, process payments, or maintain user accounts, there is no personal data stored on our servers. Anything an activity remembers stays in your own browser’s local storage and is never transmitted to us. Aggregate page-usage measurement is handled by Google Analytics, as described above; we hold no database of our own.
If you are located outside the United States, please note that by using this site you are transferring information (such as IP address, resolved through server logs by your hosting provider) to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
